LATINOS IN DEFENSE

Bienvenido a "Latinos In Defense (LID)". My name is Ivan Moreno, Government Business Development Officer at Senspex and part of a group of passionate Latinos in the Defense Industry. In the past few years, I have gathered with many Latino friends and families in the Defense Industry and shared the vision of putting together an association, with the following purpose and mission as listed below:

Purpose Statement: The purpose of the "Latinos in Defense (LID)" is to empower and support the professional growth of all Latinos in the Defense Industry by facilitating educational resources, empowerment opportunities, and robust networking platforms.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to support Latino entrepreneurs, professionals, former military, and business owners in their endeavors to contribute to the economy while advocating for the needs and interests of our nation’s warfighters. We strive to create a vibrant community where knowledge, experience, and mutual support pave the way for innovation and prosperity.

Meet the Board Members

IVAN MORENO
President

Leveraging over three decades of experience in business development, Ivan Moreno fuels Senspex's growth through strategic partnerships, securing multi-million-dollar government contracts, and expanding into new markets. He has forged strategic partnerships with several major defense contractors, resulting in a significant increase in revenue for the company.

ADAM AVELLAN
Vice President

Adam has worked for Cyber Training Technologies and in the Defense Industry since 2013 first as an IT specialist and today as a Hands-on Trainer, Videographer, Voice Over Specialist, Editor, Talent, and now heads CTT’s Communication Division. He has worked on many of CTT contract to assist the US Army with their training modernization efforts.

JOHN AVELLAN
Business Manager

With other 40 years of management experience and working in both the training and education fields. John have worked with the DoD, US Army and Cyber Training Technologies (CTT) for the past 13 years. He is the inspiration of the company’s innovation products that have assist the US Army with their training modernization efforts. This effort includes the introduction of video training embedded into several training platforms that have delivered over 166 training product to the Army and are distributed worldwide.

HUMBERTO (BERT) RAVELO
Treasurer

Mr. Ravelo has over 44 years of Combined Industry and Government civilian experience in support of design/development and management of Government Communication Systems, Testing and Training Instrumentation and Information Technology Systems.

DR. CHERISA I. JEREZ
Secretary

Dr. Cherisa I. Jerez is a proud Latina originally from Miami, Florida. A graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in accounting, she commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corps in 2005. She served on active duty and in the US Army Reserves, earning the rank of Major in 2017.

DR. DIANE DIAZ
Communication Officer & Board Member

Dr. Diane Diaz has extensive management and leadership experience. Over 24 years of senior level management experience with large corporations, managing all aspects of sales, operations, training, and development contribute to her extensive background. Diane serves as Secretary on the board for Women in Defense Central Florida Chapter which engages, cultivates, and advances women in all aspects of national security.

LUIS GARCIA
Legal Advisor

Mr. Luis Garcia has over 35 years of leadership, program management and engineering experience. As a senior manager with the Federal Government, he managed large Army/USMC live training & simulation portfolios and supervised an entire division. The team was comprised of Government and contractor personnel (50+ employees) including SMEs from several competencies like Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Facility Engineers, Logisticians, Finance Managers, Cost Analysis Specialists, Instructional System Specialists and Contract Specialists. He retired from the Federal Government in 2019.

OMAR SILVA
Board Member

I graduated out of the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in computer engineering in 2002 and out of University of Florida Masters of Engineering degree in Industrial engineering with a concentration in engineering management in 2010. I have been in the simulation and training defense industry for 22 years working in major corporations such as General Dynamics Information Technology and SAAB Training USA.

RICHARD CORONADO
Board Member

Mr. Richard Coronado, a first-generation college graduate whose parents immigrated from El Salvador in the 1960s seeking a better future, is the Co-Founder and President of JIRACOR, an SBA 8(a) and Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) specializing in professional services, manufacturing, training, logistics, and sustainment for all branches of the Department of Defense.
